The Sparkleberries: Home
The Sparkleberries introduces itself with a new album of some of the most rootin', tootin', roots rock this side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This modest album is called "Skylight Exchange" and features the songwriting talent of frontman Ken Kleinfeld and the sparkle of alt-pop virtuoso Chris Stamey, who is part of a rotating crew that includes the rhythm sections of Jeff Crawford & Logan Matheny and J. Carson Gray & Martin Lynds. Also heard here are the catchy roots-rock riffs of guitarist Bob Craver.
Based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the band is most at home in a place called Maple Park, where trees make their mark and guitars play a little like Chuck Berry. And "Maple Park" is the opening track, followed by songs that mostly relate incidents of "skylight exchange" with certain varieties of "sparkleberries," including some around Chapel Hill.
